Nutritional habits are important in a child’s early years because this is when your child develops eating behaviors for the rest of their life. These formative years will determine whether your child will approach food in a healthy way. This age is when you can teach healthy eating habits because young children are more open to exploring new things and can learn quickly. Children this age are also more likely to mimic what the adults around them do. If they see adults eating fresh fruits and vegetables, then they will want to eat them too. If they learn to make good choices now they can develop healthy eating habits that last a lifetime.
Proper nutrition helps their bodies grow, brain to develop and enhances focus and learning in the classroom. Empty calories from soft drinks, cookies and fast foods will not meet their growing body's needs. Establishing good eating habits early is also critical to protecting them from adult disease and obesity.
Lilybug Learning takes the proper nutrition of your child very seriously. Focusing on making healthy choices and teaching why these healthy choices are better than unhealthy alternatives is a priority of Lilybug Learning’s nutrition efforts. At Lilybug Learning healthy choices are part of your child’s daily routine.
Because young children have small stomachs, serving small amounts of food more often throughout the day is standard practice at Lilybug Learning. All meals and snacks are nutritious, healthy and meet the requirements recommended by the Canada Food Guide. By eating the right amount and type of food recommended in Canada's Food Guide, children can get the essential nutrients they need to grow and thrive.
Our primary caregiver and educator, Alexandria, is a certified nutritionist and chef who prepares organic healthy meals and snacks each day. Pre-package or frozen foods will never be served to your child. Accommodation for your child’s special diet or restrictions for allergies, medical conditions or therapeutic behavioral diets are also possible.
Cooking and nutrition expertise are also integrated into various educational activities and curriculum for the children.
