The best time for a child to learn another language is in the first three to four years of life. Fifty percent of the ability to learn is developed in the first years of life and a full 80 percent by age eight. Children growing up in a well-rounded environment learn to speak at least 2,000 basic words by the time they are four years old. Exposure to multiple languages during this time is critical to the child’s ability to continue learning these languages throughout life.
Consequently, it would be a waste not to use a child's natural ability to learn during their most vital years, when learning a second language is as easy as learning the first.
Early childhood development programs have the opportunity to encourage early learning and language development in your child that you might not have at home. At Lilybug Learning we stimulate the child’s language learning opportunity by incorporating Spanish, French and English alternatives into our teaching and activities including numbers 1-20, shapes, colors and alphabet.
