Much of the activities, skill building and curriculum are built upon a method called "play based learning", which is a technical way of describing the way kids, explore and make sense of their world. Kids who are encouraged to learn and grow in this way learn to use their brains to creatively understand and solve problems. Through play-based learning, children develop an understanding of the social and physical conditions that define their world, and the language and symbols that are used to describe it. In short, children learn better when education is built into their natural play activities.
Lilybug Learning believes:
- Children learn best through active exploration, experimentation and problem solving in a safe and stimulating setting.
- The early years of life build a framework for lifelong learning and require mentoring and support by positive role models and educators.
- Social and intellectual skills are best learned in an environment where self-esteem is nurtured and respect is absolute.
-
Interactions with all children must communicate the dignity and value of the child.
